PRAGMATICS OF TAG QUESTION, CROSS-CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE

Abstract
Considering the fact that scientists have been studying tag question and its pragmatics in English language for decades, our interest towards cross-cultural pragmatics of this linguistic variable can’t be surprising. When we focus on peculiarities of cross–cultural communication and difficulties the learners encounter in acquiring L2/foreign language due to the pragmatic multi functionality of certain linguistic variables, tag question deserves special attention as the exclusive and multi-functional feature of oral communication, viz. spoken language. The primary objective of this paper is to emphasize some important issues and peculiarities of TQ pragmatics in English as of those in lingua franca, to show their importance for effective cross-cultural communication.
