PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF HYDROGEOCHEMISTRY, ISOTOPE AND MODEL STUDIES WITHIN THE GWDA RIVER BASIN
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2010, Vol 442, Issue 442
Abstract
Preliminary results of hydrogeochemistry, isotope and model researches are presented in the paper. The main objects of the research were the deep Miocene and Pleistocene aquifers. Based on hydrogeochemical ratios r(Cl/Cl+HCO[sub]3[/sub]) and r(Na/Na+Ca) the variability of chemical composition of groundwater was investigated. Within the study area the determination of δ[sup]18[/sup]O, δ[sup]2[/sup]H, δ[sup]13[/sup]C and [sup]14[/sup]C in groundwater was made. The results of the analysis indicate strong hydraulic connection between Pleistocene and Miocene aquifers. Two simple 2D groundwaterflow models were made along the two hydrogeological cross-section lines A–A’ and B–B’. Generally, the obtained results indicate dominating vertical recharge within the groundwater recharge area.

Modelling assessment of groundwater recharge and drainage in Vistula River valley
The Vistula River valley forms a hydrogeological system recharged by the infiltration of precipitation as well as lateral inflow from the surrounding hydrogeological units. Infiltration recharge of the aquifer in the Vis...
THE INFLUENCE OF AGRICULTURAL DRAINAGE SYSTEMS ON GROUNDWATER QUALITY AN EXAMPLE OF THE TURSKO B WELL FIELD
In the recharge area of the Tursko B well field supplying water to the town of Pleszew, the contamination plume that flows towards the wells has been evidenced. The intensive groundwater contamination is caused by infilt...
