Journal Title: JOURNAL OF FUNCTIONAL VENTILATION AND PULMONOLOGY - Year 2018, Vol 9, Issue 27

Abstract

Niger is a highly endemic tuberculosis country which is subdivided into 8 regions. According to the WHO report, AFRO / GLC MONITORING MISSION REPORT (Niger) 2015, the poorest results (tuberculosis) of the country are observed in the Niamey region which is the capital and which is supposed to have the best results given these potentialities (materials, logistics, staff ...) but this is not the case. This led us to carry out this work whose goal is to research the problem of the management of tuberculosis in Niamey. It was a prospective 6-month study of 34 health care professionals managing TB and all patients registered in the TB registry of the selected facilities. A total of 86 patients were registered in the TB registry and 34 health workers were questioned. The male sex of patients accounted for 80%, smoking was found in 47.7% of patients, tuberculosis was unknown by 43% of patients before the start of their treatment. Information, education communication (IEC) was received by 98% of tuberculosis patients. Females predominated in 79.40% of health workers and 61.8% were not trained in IEC. The search for the lost of sight is a serious problem for 77.4% of the agents. It is important to insist on preventive measures, the training of agents, the IEC, the epidemiological surveillance and the research of the lost of views for a better management of our patients.
