Marta Sikorska-Kowalska THE ISSUES OF WOMEN ON THE PAGES OF “GONIEC ŁÓDZKI”, “KURIER ŁÓDZKI” AND “NOWY KURIER ŁÓDZKI” The aim of presented analysis is the content of three Łódź daily newspapers: “Goniec Łódzki”, “Kurier Łódzki”, and “Nowy Kurier Łódzki”. They represented modern attitude towards women’s stand of the break of XIX and XX century, in particular they supported women’s fight for equal rights. One can find there information on radical women’s movement on the West and on polish territories. Articles devoted to mettings, conventions and other forms of women’s activity, decidedly supported warsaw and galitian feminists. The problems of women’s rights were regularly presented in these newspapers, often by means of introductory articles on the first pages. “Chronicles” through short notes regularly informed about several problems connected with women’s work, education, activity of societies, as well as street or job accidents which occurred to women. Moreover, in these newspapers there appeared a lot of long articles which informed in full about several aspects of the role of women in the family and in the society. They presented the situation of women from different social groups. The most important problem areas discussed in these magazines involve: education, maternity, women’s work, prostitution, modern slavery and women’s exploitation. Also different forms of feminist’s activity in Europe and Poland was widely described. Finally there were also articles on fashion and the style of life and situation of women in other countries.
