Abstract
The study investigated the institutional development of the banking system of Ukraine and presented proposals for its improvement. It was identified the stages of institutional development of the banking system of Ukraine. The institutional structure of the banking system of Ukraine at the current stage of its development was considered. It was researched the problem of the lack of diversity of banking institutions in the banking market of Ukraine. Formal and informal institutions of the banking sector were characterized.
