Processes of introduction of digital technologies and lithosphere: mutual influence and threats of interaction

Abstract

The subject of the study is the processes of implementation of information and communication technologies (ICTs), the lithosphere and the nature of the interaction between them. The purpose of the study is to study the relationship and risks of the interaction of the implementation processes of digital technologies and the lithosphere – solid shell of the earth's surface. Research methods. The work uses the dialectical method of scientific knowledge, the method of analysis and synthesis, the comparative method, the method of data generalization. Results of work. The article describes and analyzes on specific examples the lithosphere risks of ICT implementation, in particular volcanic, geological and soil, hydrogeological, geodetic, relief, and tectonic risks. Interaction and inter–impact between specialized modern computer technologies, geological environment and man–made processes are considered. It has been discovered that new digital technologies can be not only a tool for scientific and applied research, but also a source of mechanical, chemical, and even radiation contamination of the earth's crust. Conclusions. Lithosphere risks of ICT implementation are often underestimated, and most often their negative impact is simply ignored. This leads in the end to great damage to the ecology of the regions and national economy, as it contaminates fertile soils and groundwater, in particular, causes their thermal, chemical and radioisotope pollution, which ultimately affects the quality of life of the population in these territories.
