Production and use of solid recovered fuels

Abstract
The paper presents information regarding production and utilisation of the solid recovered fuels, SRF from wastes. The classification system for these fuels elaborated by the European Committee for standardisation (CEN) is also presented. The SRF’s can be manufactured solely from wastes other than hazardous and utilised only in installations that comply to the emission standards for combustion or co-combustion of wastes. The classification system is based on three physical and chemical parameters of the fuel: calorific value, chlorine content and mercury content. To each of these parameters are assigned five classes.
