Protective effect of Indole 3 carbinol analogue and its Vanadium complex in hyperalgesia in STZ induced diabetic mice.
Journal Title: International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biological Research - Year 2011, Vol 2, Issue 1
Abstract
Neuropathic pain is generally considered to be one of the most common complications of diabetes affecting both type of diabetes equally. It is mostly characterized by pain which can occur spontaneously as a result of exposure to normally mildly painful stimuli eg. hyperalgesia. Our objective was to evaluate the protective effect of Indole 3 carbinol analogue and its vanadium complex in hyperalgesia in Streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic mice. Diabetes was induced by a single intraperitonial injection of streptozotocin (STZ) in citrate buffer (pH 4.5) at a dose of 175 mg/kg body weight of the rat. Synthesis of Indole 3 carbinol (I3C) analogue and its metal complex was done in Lab. and characterized by Elecctro Paramagnetic Resonance and further used for the preclinical study. Study of behavioral parameters was performed to evaluate the potential of synthesized compound to treat diabetic complication. The synthesized compound was effective to treat the streptozotocin induced chronic pain as well as potentially lowerd the high glucose level in blood. So it was concluded that the administration of Indole 3 carbinol analogue and its vanadium complex have protective effect in hyperalgesia in STZ induced diabetic mice.
