Abstract
The purpose of this article is to present results of analysis indicating that the arms industry (which often goes hand in hand with the space industry) is the leading driving force in the progress of standardization of products and their quality assurance in both production processes and the use of, or the whole product life cycle. Article placed in the historical context of human activities aimed at improving the quality of manufactured goods. Presented standards currently used in the armaments industry. It has been shown that the introduction of the armaments industry standards relating to quality assurance has changed the perception of quality in other branches of production of goods and services.
