Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Management - Year 2010, Vol 9, Issue 3

Abstract

This paper offers practical insights for researchers and public management scholars interested in the use of social networking tools, or Web 2.0 technology, as platforms for managing information and engaging the public in the framework of New Public Management. Through a literature review and an examination of current usage, the author provides an overview of these new technologies as they are applied in the public sector, with some specific recent examples. The author also conducts a case study of Poland’s public sector use based on an empirical study of 427 national, subnational, and local agencies.
