Rasmussens’s Encephalitis: A Case Report
Journal Title: JOURNAL OF MEDICAL COLLEGE CHANDIGARH - Year 2018, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
Rasmussen’s encephalitis (RE) is a rare and severe immune mediated disorder characterized by unilateral hemispheric atrophy associated progressive neurological dysfunction and seizures. The gradual atrophy of brain results in electrical disturbances leading to frequent and often intractable seizures and hence also known as chronic encephalitis with epilepsy. We report a case of a 20 year old male with gradually progressive hemiparesis and seizures diagnosed as Rasmussen’s encephalitis on imaging.
