Recent topics of lipid research
Journal Title: Journal of Analytical Bio-Science - Year 2012, Vol 35, Issue 2
Abstract
In this issue, we include three feature articles related to recent lipid research. The first review article describes lipophorin, a lipid-protein complex in insects. Lipophorin is comparable to the lipoprotein in humans. The second review summarizes bioactive lipids, especially fatty acids. The relationship between these lipids and a metabolic syndrome is also discussed. The third review discusses the methods used to measure oxysterols in human serum. Oxysterols are generated either enzymatically or non-enzymatically, and some are believed to promote atherosclerosis. We trust that these articles will provide useful information to the researchers in this field.

Lipophorin: lipid-transfer protein in insect blood
Lipophorin is one of the major lipoproteins in insect blood. It contributes to the transportation of several lipid classes. Its particle weight is about 600 k with two apolipoproteins, apoLp-Ⅰ and -Ⅱ (MW=250 k and 80 k,...
New creatine kinase assay kit for clinical analyzers- Know-How and techniques for reagent stabilization -
Creatine kinase (CK) is an essential enzyme that is present in various tissues like skeletal muscle, myocardium or brain, and it plays a crucial role in energy metabolism. During muscle or myocardial injury, CK is releas...
New outlook for technology of medical laboratory test
The background for the technology of a medical laboratory test is very extensive. In this issue, a new outlook for the technology of medical laboratory tests is presented in five feature articles from various viewpoints....
Modified method of JSCC candidate reference procedure for determination of serum pancreatic lipase activity measurement
The present JSCC candidate reference procedure for determination of serum pancreatic lipase activity measurement must be modified to measure the sample blank for each specimen. Although this method is now regarded as one...
Microheterogeneity of urinary albumin
To date, various forms of urinary albumin resulting from post-translational modifications such as fragments, decreased immuno-reactivity, intermolecular links between disulfide bonds, and oxidation have been reported. Th...
