REDUCTION OF OLTC OPERATING COSTS IN ELECTRICAL MAINS WITH DISTRIBUTED GENERATION SOURCE

Abstract

Purpose. To develop an approach for regulating voltage in electrical distribution network with distributed genera-tion sources, which provides coordinated management of heterogeneous regulation means based on the sensitivity theo-ry and allows for distributed generation sources ability to regulate voltage at connection node and reduces the number of OLTC switches. Methodology. We have applied the sensitivity theory for determining the voltage sensitivity coefficients of network nodes changes relatively reactive power changes. Results. An approach for regulating voltage in elec-trical distribution network with distributed generation sources has been developed. It provides coordinated management of heterogeneous regulation means based on the sensitivity theory and allows for distributed generation sources ability to regulate voltage at connection node and reduces the number of OLTC switches. It has been developed the model of coordinated controller for synchronous compensators and OLTC systems involved in regulation of distributed genera-tion sources in the cosφ=const mode. Originality. For the first time the sensitivity theory has been used for coordinated operation of voltage control means, which allows it to determine which means and in which node of distribution power grid should regulate voltage. Practical value. The proposed approach can be used to reduce the number of OLTC switches, reduce active power losses in the electrical network with distributed generation sources and increase their power generation. Thus, the use of the proposed approach improves the efficiency of voltage regulation in the electrical network with distributed generation sources, which have variable generating character.
