Reflection on the pedagogic communication between pupils and their teacher in music lessons. A short report from the research

Abstract
The article focuses on the problems of pedagogic communication in music lessons within the general education system. In the article, the characteristics of music education have been presented and the results of the research into musical tastes of [i]gimnazjum [/i]pupils have been revealed. The questionnaire comprised open‑ended questions, referring to musical tastes of the respondents along with justification for their choice of the preferred kinds of music, pupils’ approach to school lessons in that subject, as well as the way they would like those classes to be conducted.The answers were used for the analysis of the current situation of the school subject called ‘music’ at middle schools ([i]gimnazja[/i]) and for confronting it with pupils’ expectations. In the conclusions there was a call for a change in communication between teachers and pupils, which would enable to not only meet students’ expectations but also strengthen the pedagogue’s authority. The text comprises issues from the fields of pedagogy, music education and teacher‑student relationships.
