RELATION BETWEEN RELIABILITY AND REINFORCEMENT MANUFACTURING ERRORS IN REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS

Abstract

Ensuring the reliability of the structure or its elements is mainly dependent on the quality of materials and workmanship. A huge problem for reinforced concrete structures is both: employee awareness that the concrete works hide all their errors, and inadequate quality control mainly at the stage of reinforcement inspection. These attitudes result in frequent errors in rebar location, or even lack of rebars. This paper attempts to assess the impact of position deviations in the longitudinal reinforcing bars in cross-section of beams on the reliability of element. The calculation is based on the experimentally determined random variation of parameters characterizing elements which have been made in the precast factory.
