There was statistically significant reduction in duration of first, second and third stages of labour after giving Tramadol hydrochloride. The total duration of labour was significantly less in the study group as compared to that in the control group. There was no increase in the operative delivery rate in cases where Tramadol hydrochloride was used. There was no adverse effect on neonatal outcome. There was no change in fetal heart rate; there was no still birth or neonatal death in the study group. The maternal morbidity was much less. Nausea and vomiting were only side effects observed after administration of Tramadol hydrochloride.
