REPRESENTAÇÃO DO CONHECIMENTO ATRAVÉS DE PENSAMENTO VISUAL: UMA EXPERIÊNCIA EM SALA DE AULA PARA ELICITAÇÃO DE MAPAS MENTAIS E CONCEITUAIS

Abstract

Graphic facilitation techniques, such as Visual Thinking, have been widely used in the field of education, allowing interaction among students for knowledge representation. In this sense, mental and conceptual maps serve as educational tools that enable the synthesizing and organizing of the acquired knowledge, as well as the connection between different types of knowledge, generating new knowledge. This article aims to present, through a case study, how graphic facilitation techniques assist in the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge. The Visual Thinking technique was used in a class of the Technological Degree in System Analysis and Development, at Senac Faculty in Porto Alegre. In this regard, it was noticed that graphical representation techniques effectively collaborate in the process of assessing knowledge acquisition, since students are able to express their understanding of a subject through them, allowing the mentor to assess if the knowledge was actually acquired properly. In addition, it was found that these techniques also act as facilitators in the knowledge dissemination process, since the students could express their understanding of various issues in a synthesized, organized way that was easy to understand.
