Research on the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Medical Education: CiteSpace-based Literature Analysis

Abstract
Artificial intelligence and big data have become hotspots in various research fields, including medical education. In order to illustrate the trends of artificial intelligence in medical education research, 270 papers from the Web of Science core collection published between 2013 and 2022 were analyzed using CiteSpace software. A comprehensive analysis of publication volume, countries and regions, research institutions, authors, published journals, citations, keywords and development trends led to the conclusion of the study: there was a significant increase in related publications since 2018, with the Mayo Clinic emerging as the institution with the highest publication volume globally; a research group led by Friedman has formed a complete research group; JAMA has become the most highly cited journal; and in recent years, the hot issues of artificial intelligence application research in medical education mainly focused on medical imaging and virtual surgery.
