Research on Organizational Health Literacy in the United States and Its Implications for China
Journal Title: Medicine and Philosophy - Year 2024, Vol 45, Issue 21
Abstract
This paper systematically reviews the backgrounds and characteristics of organizational health literacy (OHL) construction in American healthcare institutions, libraries, and pharmacies, with a focus on exploring the commonalities and differences among these three entities in enhancing public health literacy. The research finds that, despite certain differences in the scope of service populations, forms of health services, and the application of evaluation tools among healthcare institutions, libraries, and pharmacies, all play a crucial role in achieving comprehensive health literacy. Based on these findings, this paper proposes new insights for constructing a supportive environment for health literacy: strengthening the construction of organizational health literacy systems and promoting inter-organizational communication and collaboration, with the aim of providing new theoretical foundations for the realization of the Healthy China strategy.
