Restoration of activity of Mihaylo Boichuk (From letters of metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky and Ilarion Sventsitskyi)

Abstract
The article deals with the research of the restoration activity of Mykhaylo Boychuk in 1910–1914 on the basis of archival sources and epistolary heritage of Metropolit Andrey Sheptytskyi and Director of the National Museum in Lviv (further – the NML) Ilarion Sventsitskyi. The formation of the main principles of the museum’s restoration, which was expressed and practically applyed by M. Boychuk and his students, is analyzed. The main features of the restoration practice carried out by the artist during his work in the NML (the priority value of conservation measures and disclosure processes, as well as the conscious limitation of restoration processes) are analyzed.
