Nowadays, newspaper editors should consider not only the quality and uniqueness of the content of the news and information, how, and how effective the information may be presented to the reader. There are a lot of newspapers being circulated in our country at both national, and local level. In today's world, where visuality has permeated in every step of life, newspaper readers also attach importance to the ways by which the news and articles are presented, and seek to receive the message in the quickest and easiest way possible. In today's world, where page design has come into prominence, the newspapers in circulation should be examined in terms of the elements, which attract the readers to their pages, and on how committed they are to the newspaper design principles, which enhance the readability thereof, and the proper practices in terms of newspaper design should thereby be indicated. In this study, it has been intended to describe the basic elements and principles being applied in terms of newspaper design by means of exemplary patterns. These elements and principles have been worked out not as harsh design rules, but in pursuit of the experiences and knowledge of those who served, and inquired in this field previously. There are four newspapers, having been sampled herein among the local newspapers being circulated in the city of Adana, and numerous page design mistakes have further been singled out, upon having the said newspapers reviewed in terns of compliance with the page design principles.
