REVIEWS AND CRITICISMS ON THE AUTHENTICITY OF MATHNAWI'S SEVENTH VOLUME

Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 42

Abstract

Mathnawi, undoubtedly, is the most important work by Mevlânâ. It has been studied many times from various aspects. It is claimed that, apart from the 6 volumes known, one more is present, namely the 7th volume. It has been discussed by some researchers. Mevlevis, commentators and researchers of Mathnawi strongly oppose this and state that it was written long after Mevlânâ and attributed to him. İsmail Rusuhi Ankaravi, putting forth some evidence, refuses this saying it belongs to Mevlânâ. This article considers the discussions on the related 7th volume of Mathnawi, one of the most important works of sufism.
