ROMANIA’S ENTRY IN TO THE FIRST WORLD WAR AND THE EFFECTS ON THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE

Abstract

Romania was one of the detached states when the First World War had started. This state had a strategic position that it can contribute to any of the two sides when it take place with its rich economical sources. On the other hand, Romania had some goals since it had gain independence. This war could be a chance to reach those goals. So Romania continued its meetings with both sides until it decided to take place on the Allies side in the 1916 summer. It joined the war while the advantages were with the Allied powers in 1916 August 28th. The Ottoman Empire couldn’t be unconcerned with the situation that Romania had begun a war against its allies Austro-Hungary and Germany. So the Ottoman State declared war against Romania and sent its soldiers to the Romanian battlefront. They became warring countries and this affected their military, political and economical relations. In this paper, the efforts of the triple Alliance Forces and the triple Central forces to pull Romania on their sides, Romania’s foreign policy and its effects on Ottoman State will be shown.
