Russian estimates of Obama’s Middle East policy

Abstract
Russian foreign policy thought of Obama’s Middle East policy is considered in the article. This problem is highly debated in Russian political and academic community. There is a number of publications in which the actions of the USA are considered from different positions in the Greater Middle East in Russian historiography. The aim of the work is to consider Russian as- sessments of US Middle East policy under President Obama. The research is based on studies of current Russian publications on the international situation in the Greater Middle East and US foreign policy with the application of general scientific and special historical methods. Special at- tention is drawn to Russian interpretation of Obama’s Middle East policy. Firstly, views of repre- sentatives of Russian political and academic community to US actions in the Greater Middle East are analyzed. The author considers that they are interesting not only from purely scientifi-cal, but also from political and practical point of view. Conclusion is made about discussion of a number of questions relating to Obama’s Middle East policy: US involvement in the events of the Arab Spring; the results of the Arab revolutions to Washington; American perspectives in the region. However, many experts agree that all Arab countries which have been a change of polit- ical regime in one way or another have retained their pro-American foreign policy orientation.
