Screening and analysis of HCV among drug users in Dehong Prefectureï¼ Yunnan Province from 2014 to 2021

Abstract
ObjectiveTo analyze the prevalence of HCV antibody positive and associated factors among drug users in Dehong Prefectureï¼ Yunnanï¼ and to provide scientific evidence for HCV prevention.MethodsQuestionnaire surveys and serological testing were conducted among 400 drug users continuously selected from four national AIDS sentinel surveillance in Dehong Prefecture between January and July during 2014â2021.Results11 683 drug users were included. The prevalence of HCV antibody positive was 20.2% overallï¼ and 14.9%ï¼ 20.1%ï¼ 22.4%ï¼ 19.8%ï¼ 22.5%ï¼ 20.6%ï¼ 24.5%ï¼ 19.0% from 2014 to 2021ï¼ respectively ï¼trend Z=-3.78ï¼ P<0.001ï¼. Multivariable analysis indicated the following were independently associated with HCV antibody positiveï¼ that older age ï¼OR=1.02ï¼ 95%CIï¼ 1.02â1.03ï¼ï¼ male ï¼OR=1.70ï¼ 95%CIï¼ 1.19â2.42ï¼ï¼ unmarried ï¼OR=1.64ï¼ 95%CIï¼ 1.44â1.87ï¼ï¼ divorced or widowed ï¼OR=1.73ï¼ 95%CIï¼ 1.48â2.02ï¼ï¼ Jingpo ethnicity ï¼OR=1.39ï¼ 95%CIï¼ 1.19â1.63ï¼ï¼ injection drug use ï¼OR=15.46ï¼ 95%CIï¼ 13.13â18.12ï¼ï¼ and HIV infection ï¼OR=4.96ï¼ 95%CIï¼4.12â5.99ï¼.ConclusionThe prevalence of HCV antibody positive among drug users in Dehong Prefecture is high and increases with some fluctuations during 2014 to 2021ï¼ which highlights the need to develop interventions targeting this population.
