SECONDARY LANGUAGE PERSONALITY IN THE CONTEXT OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

Abstract

This article deals with the concept of the secondary language personality, with components of the second language personality and levels of their implementation in the area of the intercultural communication. As the title implies the article describes the specifics of the intercultural communication’s process as the main stage of the secondary linguistic personality is becoming. Basic information on the analysis of the linguistic identity’s category is to identify the feasibility of use in the conceptual apparatus of secondary language personality’s linguistic concept is presented. It is specially noted, that the basic concept differs from secondary language personality. The article gives a valuable information on linguistic identity that reveals the person’s ability to identify social, psychological, verbal and other features in the language, which are acquired within their own social and cultural environment. Meanwhile, secondary language personality represents human ability to master the verbal-semantic code of language with different linguistic and conceptual view of the world. It gives the understanding of the new social reality in the space of intercultural communication. It gives a detailed analysis of secondary language personality’s components are presented as the set of linguistic identity competencies, that are required for the successful intercultural communication. The theoretical and conceptual, linguistic, strategic and cultural competences belong to them. It is determined that the successful exchange of information in terms of intercultural communication should be involved in the full range of competencies that can be realized on three cognitive levels – verbal-semantic, cognitive and pragmatic. It should be emphasized that the importance of a thorough study of the secondary language personality’s concept in the intercultural communication within the scientific linguistic discourse. The article is of interest to furtherstudies of the specific formation of secondary language personality within the actual language material.
