Selected Possibilities of the FSW and FSSW Methods in the Removal of Material Defects and Welding Imperfections
Journal Title: Biuletyn Instytutu Spawalnictwa - Year 2017, Vol 61, Issue 5
Abstract
The article describes unconventional applications of friction stir welding (FSW; linear) and friction stir spot welding (FSSW) processes including the possibility of removing material defects and welding imperfections. The article presents results of tests involving aluminium alloys and demonstrates various repair methods in relation to types of material defects and welding imperfections.

Representation of the Effect of Plasma Column Disturbances on the Static and Dynamic Characteristics of Arcs Described by the Modified Pentegov Model. Part 2. Modelling the Effect of Rapid Disturbances on Electric Arc Characteristics
The article presents universal functions approximating quasi-static characteristics of electric arc with undefined and defined ignition voltage. The above named approximations take into consideration the effect of distur...
Verification of Properties of Joints Made of Advances High Strength Steels in the Conditions of the Complex Thermal Cycles of the HPAW Process
The article discusses the primary issue related to the verification of properties of joints made in AHSS in relation to conventional structural steels and based on the identification of cooling time t8/5. The solution su...
Welding consumables with lower emission of CrVI
The article provides information about new filler metals used in the welding of popular stainless steel grades and discusses the formation of Cr6+ in dusts as well as alkaline metals connected with the process. Newly dev...
Robotic welding on tube nodes
Hollow-profile structures are significantly more stable than structures made using open pro-files, which is the main reason for their use in truss and truss-like structures. The node inter-sections of such structures req...
Detection of Imperfections in Welded Joints Using the Timeof-Flight-Diffraction Technique (TOFD)
The paper presents the results of research on an ultrasonic testing technique known as the time-of-flight-diffraction (TOFD) technique. The research- related tests involved a 10 mm thick MMA welded butt joint containing...
