Selective laser melting (SLM) technique in fixed prosthetic restorations

Abstract
Selective laser melting (SLM) technique in fixed prosthetic restorations allows for manufacturing complicated superstructure crowns and bridges based on the patient’s natural teeth or implants.This process involves local sintering or melting powdered material with the aid of focused and computer-controlled laser beam, performed with use of infrared laser beam. The obtained substructure shows a very high precision and high parameters of mechanical resistance. Oxidation carried out immediately after the foundation ensures its passiveness and much greater resistance to corrosion.The paper presents a case report on clinical and laboratory procedures involved in the manufacture of fixed restorations using SLM technique.
