Semantic Analysis Of Quran Idioms
Journal Title: Eskiyeni - Year 2013, Vol 1, Issue 27
Abstract
Idioms in a language occupy an important place in its word power. Because, idioms save up in language while they make intended meanings more efficient. It is almost impossible to write an inscription or to make a speech in which an idiom is not included. We see that idioms occupy larger place than proverbs in a language when we compare them in this regard. It will be immediately noticed that the Holy Quran has an extremely rich idiom usage when the issue is examined from the respect of the Holy Quran. Because, Arabic is a language which is famous with its inclination to figurative phrases. When the fact that the Holy Quran is a divinely remark namely its highness in accuracy, fluency and eloquence is added to this, it will be better understood why so many idioms have been used in the Holy Quran. Analysis of idioms is highly important for the Holy Quran to be well understood. Bringing the meaning into light entails a considerable effort, in other words an attempt to do the impossible because idioms are word units that do not betray themselves easily at once, need to make mind exercises on, in other words that save the meaning in zipped form. In the present study, it has been tried the Quran idioms to be analyzed semantically and to travel in their depths.
