SHORTENINGS IN VIRTUAL INVIRONMENT

Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of appearing and spread of shortened lexical units which are regarded as the most productive means of word building. In order to save time, space and speech efforts Internet-users shorten normative words and create a new very special language understood by their correspondents. Some examples of newly-formed abbreviations which were included into Oxford Dictionary in 2011 are given in the article. Some types of lexical abbreviations are present-ed in the article: based on sounds, letters, compounds, sound-letters and letters-sounds, mixed and telescopic
