SIX SIGMA AS A METHOD OF IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF ENTERPRISES IN THE TIMES OF GROWING GLOBALISATION

Journal Title: Zeszyty Naukowe Wyższej Szkoły Humanitas Zarządzanie - Year 2014, Vol 15, Issue 2

Abstract

Contemporary organisations operating in the competitive global market have noticeda growing interest in the issue of quality, initially perceived as the quality of goods and services, andsubsequently as the quality of management systems, which results in the development of new methods of quality improvement. They combine traditional principles of eliminating process errors, at the same time aiming at continuous improvement and monitoring the production operations. The process isdetermined by an increasing emphasis on reducing the manufacturing costs and generating savings,in combination with cutting the redundant costs. The above issues have created a favourable environment for development of new quality management methods, such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen tools, which are widely disseminated in companies operating in various industries and of various profiles all over the world. These methods allow gaining competitive advantage in the global market, retaining or soliciting new customers, and if implemented in the form of quality management systems, they affect the quality of rendered services, meeting the current recipients’ expectations and achieving fuller customers’ satisfaction in the era of progressing globalisation.
