Abstract
The subject of death in journalism photography is embroiled in a number of aspects connected with tragic situations, events, or disasters. Visualisation of death is not only based on a photographic message but also it is composed of emotional focus. The influence of these images is dependent; among others, on tension, references to iconography of history of art or the one rooted in the collective imagination. The post-mortem photo of Elvis Presley published in The National Enquirer, or the image of dead Waldemar Milewicz in Super Express, the war correspondent of Telewizja Polska (Polish Television), show tabloidization and common demand for images of death.
