SOCIAL CAPITAL AS A CATEGORY OF ECONOMIC AND THEORETICAL RESEARCH

Abstract
The article analyzes approaches to the definition of the concept of social capital in social and behavioral sciences and its significance in the functioning of socio-economic processes. The characteristic features of social capital as an economic category and as a factor of economic development are revealed. It is substantiated that social capital can be formed and accumulated at different levels of the functioning of economic relations – nano-, micro-, meso-, macro- and mega and remunerated by a certain type of income. Self-determination of the essence of social capital is proposed. The necessity of interdisciplinary researches of social capital, which is connected with the existence of close interrelation between different forms of capital, is indicated.
