SOCIAL DESIRABILITY IN ONLINE PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTS
Journal Title: Social Innova Sciences - Year 2020, Vol 1, Issue 4
Abstract
Psychological evaluation requires new challenges. The current situation invites us to reflect on the procedures that are currently being carried out, the so-called face-to-face evaluations where the patient is interacted with. However, as stated above, psychological evaluation has taken on new perspectives. Currently, online evaluations are carried out and it must be ensured that the parameters are maintained in the same way as in face-to-face evaluations. Given this, a fundamental characteristic is analyzed in personality evaluations, the image that a person offers before the evaluation, which is known as social desirability. The objective of this study was to analyze whether there are differences between the face-to-face evaluation and the online evaluation of the social desirability indicator. For it, The MCMI-III was applied in person and online to 40 subjects attended through psychological consultation. The 40 subjects were divided into two groups (Group 1 and 2). The results show some differences and similarities when comparing the results in both types of applications of the MCMI-III. It is concluded that social desirability is present in both types of evaluation and constitutes an indicator to be evaluated in future research.
