Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 46

Abstract

While forming Old Anatolian Turkish medical texts, it couldn’t been created a consistent system about spelling. Neither Turkish terms nor Arabic, Persian and Greek origin terms’ spelling is coherent. Contradictions in foreign origin terms’ spelling are relatively more than the spelling of Turkish terms. At this point, the issue of the Persian and Greek origin terms’ spelling come into prominence due to some linguistic reasons. In this article, we will mention the probable reasons of the inconsistency of Persian and Greek origin words’ spelling in aforesaid texts. Furthermore, we will choose examples about the subject which are situated in four important XIV.- XV. century Turkish medical texts and we will analyze them comparatively.
