South of Ukraine in the system of Soviet military captivity: the historiography of the question

Abstract

The historiographic experience of Ukrainian explorers concerning the problem of functioning of NKVD camps of war in the south of the USSR is analysed in this article. This problem can be studied objectively now because archival documents have been declassified. Nowadays the problem of Soviet military captivity is almost not studied in Ukraine. The author of this article concludes that the regional segment of this problem must be analysed more detailed. That’s why this question is a perspective and topical tendency of Ukrainian historiography and further scientific research is necessary.
