Journal Title: Eminak - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 4

Abstract

The author aims to study the Soviet historiography of the second half of the 1960s – early 1980s concerning the issue of cultural and technical level of the Ukrainian SSR postwar working class (1946-1965). It has been established that starting from the second half of the 1960s Soviet researchers began to pay great attention to such complex subtopic as the development of workers’ cultural and technical level. The methodology for the study of the issue altered appreciably, conclusions from the same economic or philosophical works became lesser, the number of efforts to integrate data of related sciences and identify the factors influencing the growth of cultural and technical level increased. Therefore, the subject of the study is represented by such worker’s characteristics as education, skills, discipline, quality of work, competition, efficiency drive and social activity. Unfortunately, many complex problems and contradictions of cultural and technical level of the working class did not receive adequate coverage. The attention was focused on achieving the qualitative growth. This tendency, inherent in some sections of workers, often extended to the entire working class.
