SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF THE STUDY OF GENDER DISTRIBUTION OF THE POPULATION IN UKRAINE AND ITS EFFECT ON THE ECONOMY

Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to identify the gender peculiarities of the distribution of the population of Ukraine and to study their impact on the national economy taking into account regional aspects. The analysis of the permanent population of Ukraine in the dynamics has been carried out and it has been found that its number decreases with each passing year. The gender distribution of the permanent population has been researched, which has established that the ratio of women and men remains unchanged from 2000 to 2017. In order to study the gender distribution of the population in Ukraine and its impact on the economy, the regional aspect has been taken into account. Analyzed the demographic processes of fertility, on the basis of which it was found that boys in Ukraine are born more than girls. Through the study of age groups, it has been found that with the transition to each subsequent age group the proportion of men is gradually decreasing, and at the age of 90-94, it is the smallest. The estimation of the economically active population of Ukraine, taking into account the gender distribution of the population, has been proved, as a result of which labor market problems related to differences in the level of employment and unemployment for men and women, as well as the average monthly salary, depending on sex, are confirmed. Based on the grouping of types of economic activity with the highest average number and share of employees and their wages, the most highly paid activities for women and men in Ukraine are determined, as well as the types of activities involving the largest number of employees. This made it possible to find that the so-called middle class in the Ukrainian economy is formed and provided, mainly by men, and the vast majority of women work in the least-paid forms of economic activity. Prospects for further research are a comprehensive assessment of the gender distribution of the population using the mathematical apparatus for calculating territorial, occupational and sectoral segregation indicators for determining the extent and dynamics of gender transformation in Ukraine.
