Abstract
The paper presents the results of assessment of demand for different functions of forest management on the area of Malopolska province. Analysis of natural and socio-economic factors both favorable and limiting the development of the various functions of forest and forest management was con- ducted using data from Central Statistical Office. Commune was assumed as a basic research unit for which three synthetic indicators of demands for development by forest management were deter- mined: environmental (Wo), social (Ws) and production (Wp) respectively. Assessment of calculated indices made possible to classify communes on account of particular forest management functions and allowed to separate zones of demands for different functions in Malopolska province.
