Staff attitudes favoring synergy as the determinant of an organization’s innovativeness
Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Management - Year 2012, Vol 11, Issue 2
Abstract
The cornerstone of the competitiveness of a contemporary organization is not only its ability to survive in risky and uncertain circumstances but, first of all, its capability to develop. It is therefore necessary to become innovative in technological and organizational aspects, however, innovation on the human resources side is crucial. Having emphasized the importance of human resources in the creation and implementation of innovation as well as its success, the question is how to build interactions within an innovation process, requiring cooperation and synchronization of different actions. Lack of staff competences often makes it more difficult. Therefore, constant improvement and development of knowledge, skills and attitudes in the area of building social capital become more and more important. With social and human capital classified as the key innovation factor, this article stresses the necessity to build positive staff attitudes based on creativity and involvement, favoring synergy. It has been concluded that attitudes – as one of the three components of staff competences – have been rated lowest compared to knowledge and skills. Attitudes favoring synergy, including mainly satisfaction, creativity and acceptance are crucial for increasing of the organization’s capability to undertake the risk of innovative actions.
