Abstract
The article discusses the individual instruments of government control in the field of construc- tion related to the practice of applying the institute of a consulting engineer. The role of the consulting engineer in the implementation of a construction project at different stages of its life cycle is determined. The range of issues that can be attributed to the competence of the consulting engineer is determined.
