Statistical Biotechnology of Volvox for Sustainable Inland Fisheries

Abstract

C4 plankton and rare CAM plants have got its immense importance in the tropic because of carbon assimilation during the dark hours. Applicability and function can be measurable using biotechnology and statistics. It is known that most planktons are C3 plants and hence may cause depletion of dissolved oxygen (DO) during the night hours and cause problem to freshwater fishes and prawn. The present communication is to resolve this issue of desirable gasses in aquatic medium. The ideal C4 plankton viz. Volvox with natural counts may even up to 6000 L-1 is incorporated into the aquaculture system. This make the ecology better in terms of desirable gasses specifically during the dark/night hours. This known C4 plankton can assimilate carbon dioxide (CO2) to a stabled 4-carbon compound i.e. oxalic acetic acid (OAA) internally to cellular assimilation and thus improve the aquatic environment. The carbonic acid produces H+ ion which remains in external medium and may cause problems to such aquatic species. A pH-meter (H+) and Polar-graphic (O2) is the device in nanotechnology to detect their concentration and help in correction process of aquatic environment by altering sole population density or combination of C3 and C4 plankton bio-masses through aquatic system modeling by incorporating a minute growth factors required by the C4 plankton for fisheries sustenance.
