STILISTIC FEATURES OF SYNTAXIS OF V. CAMINER’S SHORT STORIES

Abstract

Analysis of the works of contemporary writers is of particular interest to literary critics and linguists, because today it is rather difficult to surprise readers and find unconventional solutions for creating a special impression after reading. In our article we consider the individual style of short stories by Vladimir Kaminer, a German writer with Russian roots, from the collection «Das Leben ist keine Kunst», namely the creation of the latter through syntax, since it is level that most clearly demonstrates the stylistic features of the author’s prose. The syntactic organization of an artistic text is an important component of the style of both the individual writer and the literary and artistic direction in general. The article also highlights the potential of sentences of different lengths, as well as different types of sentences, since the idea that the complexity and simplicity of perception depend not on the structure of the sentence, but only on its length, is erroneous. An analysis of the syntax of short stories by V. Kaminer showed that the author, thanks to a short sentence and a sentence of medium length with a predominantly composing relationship, creates an atmosphere of particular simplicity and naturalness. The choice of language means organized into the system thanks to the syntax is explained by the cinematic style of the narration, which suggests to the reader the idea of a natural course of life. With the help of dialogues, individual replicas, by using colloquialisms and imitation of constructions of oral speech, the author creates in the reader a feeling of maximum immersion into the atmosphere of what he writes about, thus making his stories light and transparent.
