Student with High-Functioning Autism at School – a Case Study

Abstract

The article presents an individual case of a student with high-functioning autism. This term usually refers to people with average intelligence and good language skills. Highfunctioning autism is not considered a diagnostic unit but a term used by some doctors, psychologists and educators. Currently, there is practically no difference recognized between Asperger syndrome and high-functioning autism, and both terms can be used interchangeably in clinical practice. The article also deals with issues related to interests and special talents of people with autism.
