STUDIES OF GENTAMYCIN ADSORPTION ON CHITOSAN
Journal Title: Progress on Chemistry and Application of Chitin and its Derivatives - Year 2013, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
Chitosan as a dietary supplement has been used in the treatment of obesity due to its capability of binding bioactive compounds. A molecule of a cationic polymer, such as chitosan, may bind gentamycin. The aim of the study was to determine the binding capability of Gentamycin by chitosan’s contained in weight-loss supplements. The Gentamycin absorption was investigated by means of a dynamic method in a biopharmaceutical model imitating in vitro conditions including the required level of nutrients. Mean absorption of gentamycin by chitosan ranged from 2.1% to 34.1% depending on the environmental pH. The highest absorption rate was observed at above pH 6.8. Concluding, the studies confirmed that the investigated gentamycin interact with chitosan, what leads to decrease in their amount and affects the bioavailability of the drugs.

EFFECT OF IONIC CROSSLINKING ON DENSITY OF HYDROGEL CHITOSAN MEMBRANES
Ionically crosslinked chitosan membranes were prepared and their density was determined using modified pycnometer method. High‑molecular compound: sodium alginate (NaAlg) and low‑molecular compounds: pentasodium tripolyp...
THIRTY YEARS OF PROGRESS IN CHITIN AND CHITOSAN
Although Braconnot’s discovery of chitin preceded Payen’s discovery of cellulose by almost 30 years, and the amount of chitin produced annually by biosynthesis is not that much less than cellulose, the industrial applica...
BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THERMOSENSITIVE CHITOSAN GELS CONDITIONING IN WATER
In this paper the properties of thermosensitive chitosan hydrogels prepared with the use of chitosan salz (chloride and lactate) and -glycerophosphate are presented. Biological studies were carried out on thermogels wit...
ASSESSMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL PROPERTIES OF GYNAECOLOGICAL HYDROPHILIC GELS CONTAINING LACTIC ACID COMPLEXED WITH CHITOSAN
Gels containing lactic acid complexed with chitosan at a stoichiometric ration 1:1 and 2:1 and 5-25% content of polyoxyethylene glycol 200 are able to move from 25 to 30 cm. The addition of glycerol increases the movabil...
THE APPLICATION OF CHITOSAN, PYTHIUM OLIGANDRUM AND GRAPEFRUIT EXTRACT IN THE PROTECTION OF COMMON BEAN (PHASEOLUS VULGARIS L.) FROM SOIL-BORNE PHYTOPATHOGENS
Results of the present studies and abundant information from literature [2, 4, 6, 7, 11-14, 20] make it possible to include the tested biopreparations (especially Biosept 33 SL and Biochikol 020 PC) into effective biolog...
