STUDY OF THE ANALGESIC ACTIVITY OF METHANOLIC EXTRACT OF JASMINE ROOT (Jasminum sambac)

Abstract
The present study was done to evaluate analgesic activity of methanolic extract of root of Jasmine (Jasminum sambac Linn Aiton). Methanolic extract of root of Jasmine was given in the dose of 200 and 400 mg/kg in Wister albino rats and mice of either sex in tail flick and acetic acid induced writhing method respectively. The extract was compared with standard drugs like Buprenorphine (0.05 mg/kg sub cutaneously) and Aspirin (100 mg/kg intra peritonially).The preliminary studies have shown that the methanolic extract of Jasmine root has significant analgesic activity and needs further investigations.
