Study of the Relationship between Quality of Life and General Health in Newcomers of Zehedan Medical Sciences University

Abstract

students have been one of the important classes of a society who have direct and effective contribution in all areas. Having general health and appropriate quality of life can reduce the serious damages of this sector and makes them ready for growth and development. The research method is descriptive-correlational and the statistical community includes all male and female new entrant students who have been studying in the academic year 201-2012 in that 471 students (313 female students and 158 male students) have been selected as available sampling method as statistical sample. Research tools in this study include General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and Quality of Life Questionnaire (MVQOLI). The results showed that there is a significant relationship between quality of life and mental health components at the 99% significance level (P<0.01). Also, the findings indicated that there is a significant relationship between quality of life and mental health components in a separate form, but there is no significant difference in the quality of life among male and female students studying in Zahedan Medical Sciences University. Also, regression analysis showed that two components of anxiety and general health have the strongest ability to predict quality of life, respectively, among four main components of mental health. The results indicated that there is a relationship between quality of life in new entrance male and female students and their mental health in Medical Scineces University of Zahedan.
