Study on application of laminated interface element method in meso-scopic numerical analysis of concrete

Abstract
According to the objective grading curve and filling ratio of aggregates, meso-scopic numerical specimen of concrete is firstly built based on the advanced numerical generation and filling method for aggregates with random shapes. And then, this paper mainly aims at the effecting studies for elemental mechanics models impacting on the meso parameters analysis. By using the virtual laminated element methods, a super interface element model is proposed to simplify the complicated meso-scopic computations and to improve the uniform assumption of elemental material in the traditional meso-scopic analysis, in which various meso substructures, including aggregate, cement matrix, and interface band, can coexist in a single element. Therefore, the difficult meshing preparation procedure for the thin meso interface band is rationally avoided. Furthermore, some numerical researches are given to check the mechanics influences for various volumes and thickness of the interface band in the super interface element. Finally, tension and compression numerical tests are performed to evaluate the strength of concrete specimen on the basis of the proposed method, which verifies the good suitability for the application of the proposed laminated interface element method in practical engineering.
