Subject of research – the relationship of intellectual capital and its components with the general state of economic security of the enterprise in the external environment

Abstract
The purpose of writing the article is to study the importance of protecting intellectual capital as one of the factors of ensuring the economic security of the enterprise. Methodology for conducting research – comparative and system–structural analysis (for determining the essence of the notion of intellectual capital), the method of generalization (for the formation of the basic stages of building the protection of intellectual capital in the system of economic security of the enterprise), monographic (for the definition of the structure of intellectual capital and its connection with the external environment ) The results of the work – the essence and structure of intellectual capital, and its role and importance from the point of view of economic safety of the enterprise are established. The components of intellectual capital, their connection with the external environment, and their influence on the general state of economic security of the enterprise are considered. Within the framework of the study, the main stages of the protection of intellectual capital in the general system of economic security have been formed. It is proved that intellectual capital protection is a multi–stage process that requires consistency with the policy of economic security, and with the strategy of enterprise development. Conclusions – It is proved that intellectual capital goes beyond the company and actively interacts with the external environment. Therefore, for a sustainable competitiveness, the enterprise should form, and also successfully combine human, structural and consumer capital.
