Swine Flu (Influenza A H1N1 2009) and Pregnancy

Abstract
Pregnant women with Swine Flu (H1N1 Influenza A) Infection are at increased risk of maternal morbidity and mortality due to their altered immunity and physiologic adaptation. Therefore, prompt treatment, pre-& post exposure prophylaxis and vaccination are an important healthcare priority. This article reviews the epidemiology, pathogenesis, effect on pregnancy, clinical features, general principles of management, antiviral therapy and vaccination in swine flu during pregnancy.
